A Boogie wit da Hoodie, born Artist Julius Dubose out of the Highbridge neighborhood in the Bronx, built his name on a blend of hip hop, trap, and emo rap that hits somewhere between melodic and moody. His stage name comes from the character Ace Boogie in the 2002 film Paid in Full, plus a habit of never being seen without a hoodie. His debut album The Bigger Artist put him on the map in 2017, driven by the smooth, hooky single Drowning with Kodak Black, which cracked the Billboard Hot 100 top 40 and helped the album land at number four on the Billboard 200. From there things moved fast. His second album Hoodie SZN hit number one on the Billboard 200 in early 2019 and became one of the most played albums of that year, featuring contributions from Juice Wrld, Offset, and 6ix9ine among others. Artist 2.0 followed in 2020 and peaked at number two, while Me vs. Myself in 2022 earned some of the strongest critical notices of his career. He also starred in his own documentary, The Rise of Artist Dubose, released on Facebook Watch in late 2024.
