Aaron Parks has built a reputation as one of the more thoughtful voices in contemporary jazz piano, balancing post bop sensibility with a sound that feels genuinely his own. He came up fast: touring with Terence Blanchard's band while still finishing school, and appearing on a Grammy winning Blue Note record, A Tale of God's Will. His playing also found its way onto film soundtracks connected to Spike Lee projects including Inside Man and When the Levees Broke. His 2008 Blue Note debut Invisible Cinema introduced him to a wider audience, and he has since recorded for ECM and Ropeadope. He is a core member of James Farm alongside saxophonist Joshua Redman, bassist Matt Penman, and drummer Eric Harland, a group that has released two albums on Nonesuch. Parks has also toured with guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, and DownBeat named him one of their 25 for the Future in 2016.
