About
Abel Ghekiere is a Belgian multi instrumentalist whose sound draws from minimalist jazz, traditional folk and field recordings. His debut album 'Voor het verdwijnt, en daarna' sat with grief and loss, something to lean into when times are hard. His follow up, 'In de verte, dit uitzicht', moves toward openness and even euphoria, a warmer and more spacious listen. He has taken this material to festivals including ESNS, Gent Jazz, Leffingeleuren, Into The Great Wide Open and Motel Mozaïque, and has opened for Alabaster dePlume, Black Country New Road and caroline. On stage he plays guitar, clarinet and banjo, joined by Tobias Volckaert on sax, Orlan Ghekiere on drums and Hendrike Scharmann on violin.
