About
Adam Hall plays trumpet, sings and writes the songs, and he comes from Perth, Australia. With The Velvet Playboys he digs into the jazz and rhythm and blues of the 1940s and 50s, the kind of music made for a packed dance floor. The band is a full crew of seasoned players: Mark Turner on guitar, Anthony Dodos on trombone, Bronton Ainsworth on drums, Kane Shaw on upright bass and Tim Voutas on keys. Their sets lean on raw energy and a proper sense of showmanship, with a deep repertoire to draw from. It suits swing dancers especially well, so you'll often find them playing for lindy hop and charleston crowds who want live music with some grit to it.
