Alba Vivaldi

About

Alba Vivaldi is a violinist who treats the instrument as a doorway into electronica, ambient and classical music at the same time. Her sound is built from a mix of influences, including Norwegian folk, Argentine tango and spare, sometimes cinematic electronic ambient, and she pushes at the edges of each rather than settling into any one of them. There's a thoughtful core to the music. She's interested in how people have drifted away from each other and from nature, and where connection might still be found in a world moving too fast. Her performances pair the sound with immersive visuals, so the audience gets pulled into the whole piece instead of just listening. Fans of experimental and ambient music, or of artists like Caterina Barbieri and Marina Herlop, will find a lot to latch onto. One of her works goes by the title disembarkation ; begin.
