About
Albert Castiglia plays blues with a raw, full throttle energy that blends hardcore blues with soul, rock, and country, and his voice draws regular comparisons to Van Morrison. He spent years in the trenches of Chicago and Miami blues scenes before launching a solo career, most notably as lead guitarist for Junior Wells until Wells passed away in 1998. That experience shaped everything that followed. His 2006 collaboration with Graham Wood Drout, The Bittersweet Sessions, was an early standout, and his later albums on Ruf Records pushed him further into the spotlight. Solid Ground cracked the top ten of the US Billboard Top Blues Albums chart, and Masterpiece won him a Blues Music Award for Blues Rock Album of the Year in 2020. He doubled down in 2023, taking home two Blues Music Awards for I Got Love, both Blues Rock Artist and Blues Rock Album of the Year.
