Albert Cummings is a Massachusetts blues guitarist who built his chops on five string banjo and bluegrass before pivoting hard into electric blues. One of the more striking chapters in his career came early on, when Stevie Ray Vaughan's legendary rhythm section, bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton, volunteered to play on and produce his solo debut From the Heart in 2003. It was the first recording Double Trouble had taken part in since Vaughan's death, which says a lot about how much they believed in Cummings. He's been on Blind Pig Records for most of his career, racking up a catalog that hit No. 1 on the iTunes Blues Charts in three countries with 2012's No Regrets. His 2020 Provogue debut Believe was tracked at the storied FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, and his 2022 release Ten drew notice for stretching into country territory. His tenth album, Strong, came out in 2024, showing no signs of slowing down.
