Aldous Harding, the stage name of Hannah Sian Topp from Lyttelton, New Zealand, has built a reputation on a voice described as "elastic and shape shifting" and performances that are genuinely hard to pin down. Her 2017 album Party, made with producer John Parish for label 4AD, earned her the tag "one of the most original songwriters around" from The Guardian and took the Taite Prize in 2018. The follow up, Designer, pushed even further, landing at number seven on Metacritic's most critically acclaimed albums of 2019, and the single "The Barrel" won the APRA Silver Scroll Award. Her fourth album Warm Chris, released in 2022, became her first number one record in New Zealand and finally put her on the singles chart at home too. She has collaborated with Mike Hadreas of Perfume Genius and Fenne Lily, and her music moves comfortably across folk, indie rock and something stranger that resists easy labeling.
