About
Alexander Kashpurin is a concert pianist and conductor from Saint Petersburg who has built a remarkable competition record, capping it with a First Prize and Audience Award at the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht, where he performed Liszt's Second Piano Concerto. His playing spans a serious romantic and late romantic repertoire, from Beethoven and Liszt to Rachmaninoff and Medtner, and he has performed across Europe, Asia, North Africa and North America. Beyond the competition circuit, Kashpurin leads his own ensemble, Infinitum, and his debut album In Search of Eternity pairs grand works like Liszt's Après une lecture de Dante with Beethoven's final sonata. He is also an Associate Professor at the Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory in Saint Petersburg, and graduated as a conductor cum laude. His most recent recording pairs Medtner's Forgotten Melodies with Rachmaninoff's Études Tableaux, a programme he has also brought to stages in Montreal and Lille to strong critical notice.
