Alexandra Kaptein is a Dutch concert pianist whose work centres on the German Romantic tradition, with Franz Liszt sitting at the heart of her repertoire. Her debut album, released in 2023, featured Liszt transcriptions, and she has since recorded a second Liszt album. She is vice president of the Franz Liszt Kring Nederland and brings a musicological perspective to her playing, combining performance with a serious interest in music theory. She teaches music theory at ArtEZ Conservatorium in Zwolle and Arnhem, and completed the prestigious Konzertexamen at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. Kaptein graduated cum laude from ArtEZ Zwolle and earned her Master's degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. She has won prizes at competitions in Dortmund, Enschede, Den Bosch, Italy, Switzerland, and took first prize in Bern in 2025 alongside second prize at the Kreiten Concours in Cologne. Her concert career spans solo recitals and chamber music across Europe, and she made her solo debut at the Concertgebouw in 2024, also performing with the Concertgebouw Kamerorkest.
