Few French singer songwriters move as naturally between acoustic intimacy and full band warmth as Alexis HK. Born Alexis Djoshkounian, he spent his early years building a following through relentless touring, selling his debut album Anti héros notoire under the name Alexis Hashka directly to audiences at his shows. The track "C'que t'es belle" caught enough ears to land on a chanson compilation, which opened bigger doors: a deal with Labels, appearances at Printemps de Bourges and Les Francofolies de La Rochelle, and a growing reputation as one of chanson française's more thoughtful voices. His 2009 album Les Affranchis marked a real step up, with Renan Luce and Liz Cherhal among the backing vocalists and a tour that culminated at l'Olympia in Paris. He followed that with the 2012 album Le dernier présent, whose title track dropped as a preview single. Offstage, he has co written a children's book and CD with Liz Cherhal and contributed to the literary magazine Bordel.
