All Shall Perish are widely credited as one of the earliest pioneers of deathcore, which makes their Oakland origins feel almost mythological to fans of the genre. Formed in 2002, they built their reputation through punishing live shows and a string of Nuclear Blast releases, starting with the reissued debut Hate, Malice, Revenge and picking up serious momentum with 2006's The Price of Existence, whose single "Eradication" landed on MTV2's Headbangers Ball. They also made history as the first all American metal band to tour Siberia. Their third album Awaken the Dreamers debuted at number one on the Top Heatseekers chart in 2008, and the fourth record This Is Where It Ends followed in 2011. The band became arguably as well known for their lineup turbulence as their music, cycling through several key members over the years. A reunion announced in 2024 brought them back to the stage, giving longtime fans a reason to revisit a catalog that helped define what heavy music could sound like in the 2000s.
