About

Amatis Trio builds bridges, wait, no dashes allowed, so let's put it this way: at the heart of what Amatis Trio does is a drive to connect tradition with the present, music with other art forms, and performers with their audience. Founded in 2014 and based in Salzburg, the ensemble brings together violinist Lea Hausmann, cellist Samuel Shepherd, and pianist Mengjie Han. The Strad has noted the blend of melancholy, tenderness, and exuberance that shapes their live performances into something emotionally vivid. The trio has Dutch roots and a distinctly cross disciplinary outlook, approaching each concert as a space where music tells stories rather than simply fills one. Their repertoire moves confidently across centuries and styles, from the quiet intimacy of Schubert to the expressive ambition of composers like Mendelssohn and Wagner, while also giving space to less familiar voices such as Rebecca Clarke. That breadth reflects a genuine curiosity rather than box ticking.
