About
Andy Martin is the kind of trombone player who ends up on everything. Based in Los Angeles, he has played on over 350 major motion picture soundtracks, including that iconic solo in the opening credits of Monsters, Inc., plus featured work in La La Land, The Secret Life of Pets, and the Pixar film Soul. On television he was the lead trombonist on American Idol for its first three seasons, and his credits run from Family Guy to Dancing with the Stars. On the jazz side, Martin is a long standing member of Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band and spent 15 years as featured soloist with the Bill Holman big band. His 1997 collaboration with the Metropole Orchestra stands out in a discography of 12 leader or co leader albums. He has also toured and recorded with an extraordinary range of artists, from Quincy Jones and Arturo Sandoval to Lady Gaga, Metallica, and Coldplay.
