About
Angie McMahon's debut album Salt landed in July 2019 and shot to number 5 on the ARIA Charts, announcing her as one of the most compelling voices to come out of Melbourne's folk scene. Before going solo, she spent time fronting a nine piece soul band called The Fabric, and that feel for texture and space carried right into her solo work. Her singles like "Slow Mover", "Pasta", and "And I am a Woman" built a devoted following, and her covers of Neil Young, Tom Waits, Fleetwood Mac and ABBA's "Knowing Me, Knowing You" for triple j's Like a Version showed real range. Her second album, Light, Dark, Light Again, arrived in October 2023, preceded by the singles "Letting Go" and "Saturn Returning". The record was followed by the EP Light Sides in September 2024, with "Untangling" leading the way. She also sold out three nights at Melbourne's Forum Theatre on her 2024 Australian and New Zealand tour, which says plenty about where she stands with her audience.
