Connecticut rapper and producer Apathy, born Chad Bromley, has been a fixture in underground hip hop since the late 1990s, grinding out dense, technically sharp boom bap that sits comfortably alongside work from Jedi Mind Tricks, Army of the Pharaohs and fellow Demigodz members like Celph Titled and Ryu. His debut solo album Eastern Philosophy dropped in 2006, and the run of records that followed, including Wanna Snuggle? and Honkey Kong, pulled in guests like B Real, Xzibit, Vinnie Paz and DJ Premier while Apathy handled the bulk of production himself. Beyond his solo work, he has rarely stood still as a collaborator. He helped launch the Get Busy Committee with Ryu and Scoop DeVille, and kept the Demigodz collective alive with the 2013 album Killmatic. His fourth solo record Connecticut Casual arrived in 2014 and cracked the Billboard R&B and Hip Hop Albums chart. Few underground rappers wear as many hats as reliably as Apathy does, holding down mic duties and production in equal measure.
