About
Arca is the Venezuelan producer and musician behind some of the most boundary pushing electronic music of the last decade. Alejandra Ghersi started out as Nuuro, then reinvented herself with the Stretch EPs before landing a spot on Kanye West's Yeezus, where she was one of three production consultants. From there the collaborations kept stacking up: FKA Twigs' EP2 and LP1, Björk's Vulnicura and Utopia, plus Kelela, Rosalía, Shygirl and more. Her own records go further out than most. Xen and Mutant were the early statements, but the self titled album in 2017 was the turning point, putting her voice front and centre for the first time. Then came the Kick quintet, five albums running from 2020 to 2021 that wandered through IDM, reggaeton, avant pop, techno and ambient. Themes of gender identity and psychosexuality run through it all, especially since she came out in 2018. Her ninth album, XXXXX, arrived in July 2026.
