About
Rotterdam born Arjan Breukhoven is a Dutch musician who moves fluidly between piano, organ, conducting, and vocal accompaniment, building a career that spans classical church music and lighter contemporary styles. He has shared stages with an impressive range of Dutch and international artists, including Ernst Daniël Smid, Margriet Eshuijs, Kamahl, and Cor Bakker, and has contributed to more than 150 CD and DVD recordings. One memorable moment on his musical travels was playing a 127 voice organ at Saint Patrick's Basilica in Fremantle, Australia. Back home he conducts three male choirs totalling well over 300 singers, serves as the organist at the reformed church in Berkel en Rodenrijs, and is a familiar face on the EO television programme Nederland zingt. Improvisation is a real strength, and he applies it equally to classical repertoire and more accessible popular styles. In 2008 he received a silver honour from the Protestant Church in the Netherlands for more than 25 years of dedicated service as a church organist.
