Ahmed Ololade, who records as Asake, came out of Lagos swinging hard: his 2022 debut album Mr. Money with the Vibe broke the record for the biggest opening day for an African album on Apple Music at the time and landed at number 66 on the Billboard 200. His follow up Work of Art hit the exact same chart position, and his third album Lungu Boy went even further, becoming the longest running number one in Nigerian chart history. That one featured an impressive roster of guests including Wizkid, Central Cee, Stormzy, and Travis Scott. What makes Asake interesting is the way he blends Afrobeats with Yoruba traditional music, fujì rhythms, and street pop into something that feels both rooted and expansive. He went independent in early 2025 with his own label Giran Republic, and has kept the momentum going since, linking up with Tiakola on "Badman Gangsta", dropping a collaborative EP with Wizkid called Real Vol. 1 in early 2026, and releasing his fourth studio album M$NEY in May 2026. Most recently he has put out videos for "Forgiveness" and "Gratitude".
