About
Ashes You Leave took their name from a Cathedral song, which tells you something about where their heads are at: deep, heavy, atmospheric metal with a gothic and doom soaked sensibility. The Croatian band formed in Rijeka back in 1995, originally going by Icon before making the switch, and have spent the decades since building a catalogue that blends symphonic textures with the kind of crushing weight doom metal fans live for. Their third album, The Inheritance of Sin and Shame, was their real breakthrough, outselling both predecessors and sending them out on a European tour. Since then the band has cycled through several vocalists, each shaping a slightly different sound, and their seventh studio album The Cure for Happiness arrived in 2012 through Rock N Growl Records. The current lineup features Giada Etro on lead vocals alongside a violin player and keyboardist, keeping that orchestral richness front and centre.
