About
Also known as: Askin Nur Yengi
Aşkın Nur Yengi got her start as a backing vocalist for one of Turkey's biggest names, Sezen Aksu, and that connection helped launch her debut album Sevgiliye in 1990. It turned out to be a career defining moment: she went on to become one of the most recognizable voices in Turkish pop through the nineties, blending pop sensibilities with touches of arabesk. Beyond music, she has shown up on screen in theater, TV series and film productions, making her one of the more versatile performers in Turkish entertainment. She has stayed active over the years, releasing singles well into the 2010s including a 2019 collaboration with Mehmet Erdem.
