Out of Taitō ward in Tokyo, Asunojokei have carved out a sound that refuses easy categorisation. Their music pulls from black metal, shoegaze, post metal, prog, and math rock all at once, and outlets like Stereogum have compared them to Kvelertak and Deafheaven. The name translates to 'Scenery of Tomorrow', and there's something fitting about that: the band's sound is forward looking, dense, and atmospheric without losing its bite. Lyrically they draw from light novels and Japanese popular literature, which gives their work an added layer of texture. Their 2022 album Island charted on the Oricon Japanese albums chart and earned them international attention. They contributed a track to the Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139 soundtrack, and in 2023 they toured Europe as support for Boris. Recent music videos for 'In the City Where Cobalt Falls' and 'Zeppelin' suggest they remain very active, with their 2025 album Think of You showing they have no plans to slow down.
