Atzko Kohashi is a Japanese pianist who works in close partnership with bassist Tony Overwater, forming a duo where piano and double bass meet as equals rather than soloist and accompanist. Their sound weaves melody and harmony together in a way that feels at once intimate and dynamic, fragile one moment and forceful the next. Japanese aesthetic sensibility blended with European curiosity is a fair way to describe what they bring to a room. Their recorded work spans several albums, including A Drum Thing, Crescent, and Porgy.
