About
Audrey Powne wears a lot of hats, and she wears them all well. The Melbourne born, UK based producer and multi instrumentalist writes, produces, plays trumpet and keys, and even arranges strings, all qualities that came together on her debut album From the Fire, released in April 2024 through BBE. That record was a long time coming: she had been building her sound since her 2018 single Flowers, a lush orchestral pop track praised for its soulful vocal quality, and followed it up with the 2020 EP Bed I Made, which caught the ear of outlets like NME and Earmilk. Beyond her solo work, Powne keeps busy across several projects. She is part of r&b group Leisure Centre, electronic duo Au Dré with James Bowers, and jazz quartet Aura, each of which has released at least one album. It is a remarkably wide creative range, moving comfortably between pop, jazz, and electronic music without any one project feeling like a side hustle.
