About
Aura Noir have been one of Norway's most uncompromising extreme metal acts since forming in Oslo in 1993, building a sound that smashes black metal's cold darkness into classic thrash riffing inspired by Voivod, Slayer, Sodom and Kreator. Their debut Black Thrash Attack arrived in 1996 with Mayhem guitarist Blasphemer on board, and the band went on to become the first act ever signed to Tyrant Syndicate Productions, the Darkthrone members' Peaceville sub label, releasing The Merciless in 2004 with guest vocals from Nattefrost and Fenriz. A serious accident in 2005 left founding member and drummer Aggressor paralyzed from the ankles down, but he kept going, rejoining as a full time guitarist and vocalist and performing live from a stool he calls the "lecture chair". The band signed to Indie Recordings in 2012, released Out to Die that same year, and followed it up with Aura Noire in 2018. Lyrically they stick firmly to blasphemy, death and aggression, and they do it without apology.
