About
Axle Whitehead went from Australian Idol top twenty contestant to music TV host to soap actor, with a pop career threaded through it all. His debut single "I Don't Do Surprises" shot to number eight on the ARIA chart in 2008 and went gold, and was described as a cross between Coldplay and Robbie Williams. The album Losing Sleep followed on Roadshow Music, peaking at number 68. Before that he'd studied jazz improvisation, toured Australia and China with bands, and spent years fronting Video Hits, interviewing the likes of Beyoncé, Oasis and Duran Duran. Acting took over for a while, with Home and Away, Shameless and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on the CV. Music came back around when he reached the grand final of The Masked Singer Australia in 2021 as Mullet, an experience he says made him fall in love with music again. That same year he put out the soul country single "One Gun".
