Bad Gyal, the stage name of Alba Farelo i Solé from Vilassar de Mar, Catalunya, built her cult following the hard way: a Catalan language cover of Rihanna's "Work" posted online in 2016 snowballed into a full career in dancehall, reggaeton and neoperreo. Her early mixtapes, Slow Wine and Worldwide Angel, earned serious attention from outlets like Pitchfork, with "Jacaranda" landing on Fact's best singles list for 2017. Worldwide Angel was produced by Jam City and El Guincho, among others, and took her to SXSW, Lollapalooza and an Asian tour spanning Japan, China and the Philippines. Signing with Interscope Records and Aftercluv in 2019 kicked things into a higher gear. "Alocao", a collab with Omar Montes, hit number one in Spain and went five times platinum, while "Zorra" peaked at number two. Her debut album La joia followed in 2024, and her second album Más Cara arrived in 2026, cementing her as one of the most distinctive voices to come out of the Spanish urban scene.
