Michael Nelson, the Liverpool singer who records as BANNERS, has built a reputation for anthemic, emotionally direct pop rock that somehow keeps finding its way into the cultural conversation. His 2017 single 'Someone to You' exploded on TikTok in 2020, went Gold in Australia, soundtracked the Netflix series Love is Blind: Japan, and even turned up in a Grey's Anatomy storyline involving the return of Derek Shepherd. That one song alone has reached more people than most artists manage across an entire catalogue. His debut album Where the Shadow Ends arrived in 2019 on Island Records, and his 2023 EP I Wish I Was Flawless, I'm Not earned a Juno Award nomination for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year. Tracks like 'Start a Riot', 'Half Light' and 'Shine a Light' have all landed on TV shows and film soundtracks ranging from Lucifer to Beautiful Boy.
