Battalion of Saints built their reputation as one of San Diego's fiercest hardcore punk acts, starting out in 1980 and releasing raw, aggressive material through labels like Nutron and Mystic before splitting up in 1985. Their early records, including the Fighting Boys 12 inch and the Second Coming LP, became touchstones of West Coast hardcore. Singer George Anthony kept reforming the band over the decades, pulling in punk veterans like Terry Roberts of Discharge and Broken Bones, and signing with Taang! Records in the mid 1990s. The band covered Alice Cooper, toured Europe, and eventually recorded a live LP at the legendary CBGB's. A 2015 seven inch through Southern Lord showed they still had teeth, and that same year they completed their first full US tour in decades, finishing it solo after their support acts dropped out less than a day before it kicked off. The band finally disbanded in 2019.
