Benjamin Francis Leftwich has built a quietly devoted following on the back of intimate, atmospheric folk pop that somehow sounds both sparse and enormous at once. His 2011 debut Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm sold over 100,000 copies and racked up more than 150 million Spotify plays, and his track "Shine" was named Spotify's most addictive song of 2014, the most repeat played track of the entire year. "Atlas Hands" later turned up in a Zillow TV ad, which is the kind of placement that tells you how well his music fits a particular mood. Since then he has kept a steady pace, releasing After the Rain, Gratitude, To Carry A Whale, and most recently Some Things Break in February 2024. Away from his own records, Leftwich has carved out a solid reputation as a co writer, lending his pen to sessions with The 1975, Holly Humberstone, and CMAT. It is a range that shows there is more going on here than just one guy with an acoustic guitar.
