About
Big Benny is the stage name of Ben Peters, a Dutch folk singer from Roermond in Limburg who performs almost exclusively in the Limburgish dialect, especially during carnival season. His name comes from his imposing stature, and since making his debut under the Big Benny moniker in 1992, he has built a loyal following across the region, performing at carnival events in cities like Maastricht, Venlo, and Gulpen. He has also made appearances on SBS6 and been played on national radio station 3FM. His career hit a milestone in 2014 when he celebrated his 35th year as a carnival artist and his 22nd as Big Benny with a jubilee concert at Ahoy Rotterdam. That same year he was elected to the municipal council of Roermond for the Liberale Volkspartij Roermond. In 2025, marking his 33rd anniversary as Big Benny, he received the Gouden Narrenkap.
