About
Big D is the duo project of Edwin and Nico, the Hammond player and vocalist from The BluesBones, who came up with the idea after impromptu piano sessions in hotel bars and airport lounges during visits to the European Blues Challenges. Those casual performances, just two voices and a piano, convinced them there was something worth pursuing in a stripped back, intimate format. Trading as Big D and Captain Keys, they play a mix of original songs and covers that sits mainly in the blues tradition but occasionally wanders into other territory. Their debut release Tales of Friendship entered the UK Blues Charts top 40 at number 22. With The BluesBones, the pair have built a strong international track record, including number one positions in the US Blues Rock Charts and the UK Blues Charts on multiple occasions, a top five finish in the French Powerblues list, and a second place finish at the European Blues Challenge in 2017.
