Big Mountain built their name on a sun soaked blend of reggae, dancehall and dub rooted in San Diego, but it was a reggae cover of Peter Frampton's "Baby, I Love Your Way" that put them on the map globally. The track landed at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and hit No. 1 on the Mainstream Top 40, boosted by its placement on the Reality Bites soundtrack. Their album Unity sold over a million copies worldwide, and follow up single "Get Together" cracked the top five in both Brazil and Norway. Led by vocalist Quino McWhinney, the band went through significant lineup shifts over the years, pulling in Jamaican musicians like guitarist Tony Chin and drummer Carlton "Santa" Davis, which deepened their reggae credentials. After a long hiatus, they reformed and released Perfect Summer in 2016, their first album in 14 years. They also performed at the legendary Reggae Sunsplash festival in Jamaica, both in 1994 and 1995.
