Biga*Ranx is a French ragga and dancehall artist from Tours whose sound pulls together reggae, hip hop, and electronic influences into something genuinely hard to pin down. Born Gabriel Piotrowski, he got the "Ranx" addition to his name from Jamaican singjay Joseph Cotton, who later appeared on his 2011 debut album On Time, the record that Reggae.fr voted the best ragga/dancehall album in France that year. That debut also got a full remix treatment with contributions from Chinese Man and Aphrodite, which says a lot about the cross genre company he keeps. Since then he has kept a steady pace, dropping The World of Biga*Ranx series with producers like Mungo's Hi Fi and Ondubground, the live album recorded at La Cigale in Paris, and a string of studio records through his label X Ray Production. He even popped up on Calle 13's album Multi Viral in 2014. His 2017 album 1988 arrived alongside collaborations with LEJ, Akhenaton, and Blundetto, showing he has never been shy about jumping across genre lines.
