About
Biggel, the stage name of Jan van den Biggelaar, broke through in the Netherlands with a song he wrote himself while working as a plasterer during the pandemic. That track, Ons moeder zeej nog, caught fire after RadioNL listeners started requesting it on air, and by carnaval 2022 it had earned him a Gold Record, followed by a Platinum Record in early 2023. Not bad for someone who openly says he cannot sing that well. His Brabantian dialect style clearly resonates beyond the carnaval circuit. Ons moeder zeej nog landed second in the Brabantse Top 100 and third in the Omroep Brabant Top 900, placing him above acts like ABBA and Queen. He kept the momentum going with carnaval hits in 2023 and 2024, the latter earning him the NPO Radio Sterren NL Carnavalsknaller title. In early 2025 he released his debut album, collecting his earlier tracks alongside some new material.
