About
Blatoidea started out in Sicily in 2008, with Manu on vocals and guitar, Jacko on bass and vocals, and Carlo on guitar and vocals. They later relocated to London and carved out a place in the British punk scene with a raw, unpolished sound and a lot of stamina. The name comes from Blattodea, the scientific order of cockroaches, which the band uses as a metaphor for how modern society treats marginalised and unwanted groups. It was first sparked by a Creepshow episode called They're Creeping Up On You. Musically they blend 80s punk with rock 'n' roll, and the songs run on personal and social frustration, delivered with unfiltered emotion and a post apocalyptic sense of defiance.
