About
Described by The Scotsman as 'the Led Zeppelin of the Folk World', Blazin' Fiddles are a Scottish fiddle band who set out in 1998 to celebrate the distinct regional fiddle traditions of the Highlands and Islands. What began as a one off showcase tour generated such a response from audiences that the band simply kept going, and they have been a fixture of Scottish folk ever since. Their name nods to a dark slice of history: the burning of fiddles by the Church in parts of Scotland during the 19th century. Over the years they have picked up MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards for Best Live Act, Album of the Year for Magnificent Seven, and Folk Band of the Year twice. They have performed at the BBC Proms at the Albert Hall and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and they release their music on their own Blazin' Records label. Their discography stretches from Fire On! in 2000 through to XXV in 2023, with another album Incendo in the pipeline.
