About
Blind Pilot started as a duo between Israel Nebeker and Ryan Dobrowski in Astoria, Oregon, and their origin story is genuinely one of a kind: they launched their first tour on bicycles, riding from Bellingham, Washington all the way down to San Diego with their instruments strapped to custom trailers. That spirit of throwing yourself into the unknown shaped both the band name and their warmly textured indie folk sound. Their debut album, 3 Rounds and a Sound, hit the Billboard Top Digital Albums chart, and their second record, We Are The Tide, picked up a glowing 4.5 star review from Allmusic after the duo expanded into a full band. Their third album, And Then Like Lions, earned universal acclaim on Metacritic in 2016. Then things went quiet for a long stretch. After eight years away from releasing new music, Blind Pilot came back with In The Shadow of the Holy Mountain in 2024, a record Nebeker described as their favourite they have ever made, written and recorded with what he called "the utter joy of exploration." Their music has also found its way onto TV shows including Chuck, Californication, and One Tree Hill.
