About
Bloodbound have been flying the Swedish power metal flag since 2004, built around the creative partnership of Fredrik Bergh and Tomas Olsson, both veterans of Street Talk. Their debut album Nosferatu set the tone immediately, with artwork by Mark Wilkinson, who had done sleeve work for Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, and a sound that drew comparisons to Helloween and Iron Maiden rather than the black metal look their corpse paint imagery might suggest. Over a string of albums the band developed a distinct lyrical identity, shifting from darker gothic themes into full blown medieval fantasy territory from Stormborn onward, with War of Dragons and Rise of the Dragon Empire leaning heavily into dragon lore and Game of Thrones references. Memorable live moments have included sharing a stage with Paul Di'Anno backed by a symphony orchestra. With Field of Swords arriving in 2025 and a live retrospective released in 2024, they show no sign of slowing down.
