Blue Dog

About

Blue Dog is the stage name of composer and lyricist Matthias Konecny, who has turned climate anxiety into a steady stream of songs. He has written a whole pile of them about how people treat each other and the planet, and put three albums on tape. The styles and line ups shift from song to song, but the target stays the same: the mess humanity keeps making of the Earth. On stage he sings and plays piano, backed by a band with Thomas Jaspers on drums, Minas Vakaloudis on bass and Lida Brouskari on keys and synths. Songs like "Water uit de Kraan", "We Sterven Uit" and "Mensen Zijn K#t" give a good sense of the blunt, Dutch language approach. He also teams up with the climate action choir ReBelcanto, mixing odes to life with warnings aimed at everyone else.
