About
Also known as: Bokka Shade
Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, the Frankfurt duo behind Booka Shade, have been shaping electronic music since the early 1990s and co founded the influential Get Physical label in 2002 alongside DJ T and M.A.N.D.Y. Their collaboration with M.A.N.D.Y. on "Body Language" became an Ibiza track of the season and reached far enough that will.i.am sampled it years later, and Jax Jones flipped it again in 2016 for "You Don't Know Me" featuring Raye. Their 2006 album Movements earned them Resident Advisor's Best Live Act and Best Album in the same year, a rare double, and Pitchfork placed "In White Rooms" in their Top 100 tracks of the year. Since then they have kept a serious pace, putting out ten studio albums ranging from The Sun and the Neon Light through to Link To The Invisible in 2024, while running their own Blaufield Music imprint and pulling in collaborators like Fritz Kalkbrenner and Karin Park along the way.
