About

Brìghde Chaimbeul is a Scottish piper from the Isle of Skye whose sound stretches well beyond the Great Highland bagpipe. She also plays the revived Scottish smallpipes, and her music draws on Bulgarian, Irish, Scandinavian and Cape Breton traditions alongside her native Gaelic roots. That breadth shows up in collaborations with the likes of Colin Stetson and Ross Ainslie, and she even appeared as a soloist on Caroline Polachek's track 'Blood & Butter' from the 2023 album Desire, I Want to Turn Into You. Her debut album The Reeling came out in 2019, recorded in a church in Cromarty, and she has kept up a steady pace since: Las in 2021, the Colin Stetson collaboration Carry Them With Us in 2023, and Sunwise in 2025. Recent uploads suggest she is still very much active, with new material including 'A Chailleach' appearing in 2025. She won the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award in 2016 and picked up the Horizon Award at the 2019 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
