Brighter Death Now is the solo project of Roger Karmanik, the Swedish artist who also founded the label Cold Meat Industry. His sound sits in death industrial, power electronics and dark ambient, and it has shifted over the years. The early recordings leaned instrumental and atmospheric, while newer material often comes with screamed vocals twisted beyond recognition. The themes stay deliberately harrowing: child molestation, sadism and psychosis. The Great Death trilogy and May All Be Dead are now rare collector's items that fans actively hunt for. Karmanik has also worked as Lille Roger and Bomb The Daynursery. In 2009 he remixed short films by Jason LaRay Keener to use as projections at live shows. He shut down Cold Meat Industry around the start of 2014, saying the stress of running it was wearing him down mentally and physically. By the end of that year he had started Familjegraven, a label that exists only to put out his own projects: rarities, reissues and new recordings.
