About
Bring the Joints is a live hip hop band that plays its own material instead of leaning on covers. Ahih Jaihi and Fretless Jane started it in early 2022, together with a drummer who has since left. Their sound pulls from a wide pile of influences: boom bap and lo fi hip hop, trip hop, roots reggae, dub and psy dub, plus psychedelic music, psytrance, funk and ambient. The name has a double meaning. Sure, there's the smokable kind of joint, but the band also thinks of joints as the things in your body that let bones move. Their idea is that individual ideas and strengths work best when they connect, which makes for a smoother flow. That's why they like collaborating, and they've already worked with guest guitarists.
