About
Brooklyn Bounce is the project that Hamburg producers Matthias Menck and Dennis Bohn built into one of Germany's more recognisable dance acts of the late 1990s and 2000s. Working strictly behind the scenes, the duo never performed live themselves. Instead they assembled a rotating cast of vocalists and dancers to front the act, a lineup that included René "Diablo" Behrens, formerly of 666, alongside Ulrika Bohn, Maeva Ehoulan, Alejandra Cuevas Moreno and Stephan "Damon" Zschoppe. Their 1996 debut single "The Theme (of Progressive Attack)" went from club favourite to crossover hit and set the tone for everything that followed. Beyond Brooklyn Bounce, Menck and Bohn kept busy under a string of other names, including Mental Madness Productions, Beatbox feat. Rael and Boyz R Us, with the latter scoring their first chart hit via "Singin' in My Mind". They also turned their hand to remixes for acts as varied as Scooter and Kool and the Gang, making them quietly influential figures in the European dance scene well beyond their own releases.
