Bruiser Wolf got his name as a badge of loyalty: born Devaul Neal and originally going by Big Wolf, he swapped the first word for "Bruiser" when he joined Danny Brown's Detroit collective Bruiser Brigade, making his allegiance permanent in the most literal way possible. His 2021 debut Dope Game Stupid landed with serious critical weight, earning a 7.6 from Pitchfork and a spot among that year's most engaging rap albums. The production, mostly handled by Bruiser Brigade in house producer Raphy, gave the record a tight, cohesive feel that set the tone for what came next. His second album My Story Got Stories followed in 2024, pulling in guests like Danny Brown, Trinidad James, and Fat Ray, with Harry Fraud among the additional producers adding texture beyond Raphy's core work. Wolf also showed up on Danny Brown's Quaranta, in a half claymation music video for "Y.B.P." that captures their shared Detroit roots in genuinely inventive fashion. His third album Potluck came out in 2025, featuring production from Knxwledge, Harry Fraud, and Nicholas Craven among others, and he kept the momentum going with two collaborative projects shortly after.
