About
Bruno Merz is a New Zealand singer songwriter now based in Peterborough, Canada, whose music carries the kind of quietly wandering quality you'd expect from someone who spent years moving between France and Amsterdam before settling down. His early demo album Through Darkness into Day picked up real traction when the track 'Nine Sixteen' was chosen as the iTunes and Starbucks pick of the week in 2009. His EP Departing from Crowds followed that same year, and the track 'For You Now' landed on the soundtrack to the Hollywood film Life as We Know It. In 2014 he headed back to New Zealand to record the full length album Highways. Beyond music, Merz has composed a children's ballet for Northern Ballet's production of Tortoise and the Hare, illustrated children's books, and worked as an animator.
