Buck Meek is probably best known as the guitarist and backing vocalist of Big Thief, the indie folk band whose 2019 album U.F.O.F. landed a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album. But he has carved out a genuine solo career alongside that, releasing four albums under his own name. Two Saviors, recorded on the corner of Royal Street and Desire Street in New Orleans with producer Andrew Sarlo, who also helmed all of Big Thief's studio records, showed a rootsy intimacy that suits him well. His most recent solo effort is The Mirror, released in 2026. Meek has also shown up in some unexpected places, including the Bob Dylan concert film Shadow Kingdom, directed by Alma Har'el and debuted on Veeps.com in 2021. Together with his partner Germaine Dunes, he formed the band Kisser, adding yet another thread to an already restless creative output.
