About
Formed in Hattingen in 1997 under the name Never Again, Caliban have grown into one of Germany's most consistent metalcore acts, racking up thirteen studio albums over the course of their career. Their sound shifted noticeably with 2002's Shadow Hearts, which pushed in a more melodic direction, and that melodic thread has run through their work ever since. An early highlight came when they played Japan's Beast Feast 2001 alongside Slayer, Pantera and Machine Head, not bad for a band barely four years old at the time. They've kept the catalogue interesting along the way, recording a covers EP, releasing split albums with Heaven Shall Burn, and landing a deal with Century Media Records. Ghost Empire hit number seven on the German charts in 2014, while 2021's Zeitgeister took a nostalgic turn by revisiting older tracks re recorded in German. Their most recent full length, Dystopia, arrived in 2022.
