About
Cameron Winter's debut solo album Heavy Metal landed in late 2024 and immediately made a serious impression, earning a spot on Pitchfork's best albums of 2025 list and producing what the publication called the best song of that year with 'Love Takes Miles'. The New York Times described its reception as the kind that turns an artist into a figure with deeply devoted fans, and Nick Cave weighed in on Winter's voice, calling it 'glorious' and 'emotive'. Critics have compared his solo work to Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, which Winter himself cites as primary influences, while also drawing lines to Bill Callahan, Tom Waits and Jeff Mangum. Winter is best known as the frontman and main songwriter for Brooklyn rock band Geese, who put out their debut back in 2018 and have since built a catalogue of four studio albums. His solo material leans into chamber folk and indie folk territory, a noticeably different mood from Geese's art rock sound, and his vocal range has been a consistent talking point, with Rolling Stone noting his ability to shift from falsetto to a full baritone yawp within a single performance. He headlined Carnegie Hall on his first solo tour, becoming one of the youngest artists ever to do so.
